July 2, 1917 - September 17, 2016
Mary Balata (nee Glinka) age 99, reunited with her husband Elmer, a US Army Veteran of WWII, on Saturday September 17. She is survived by her son Jeffrey; her daughter Barbara Marie; Grandchildren Melissa and Kevin; and many nieces and nephews from the Semecek and Glinka families; She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth; The family would like to extend their gratitude and a sincere thank you to Cheryl Angulo for all the love and care she gave to Mary and her family and to Hospice for all their care. Mary was a very special person with many friends. A private service will be held.
AARON SKYE BENEDUM
May 7, 1974 - August 20, 2016
Aaron Skye Benedum age 42. Our brother died alone in a cold dark basement. His body was not found until the next day. There is no wife or children he left behind to console. No mortgages, property or finances to look over. His worldly possessions will fit into a trash bag, not even good enough for donating. Our brother was a heroin addict who like many others before him and sadly many more after, died becoming just another statistic. His dealers will continue thriving off the life blood of the weak, while Aaron’s sibling mourn his loss, and remember the person he was, the person they loved.
He is survived by his siblings: Jason (Gabriejela) Benedum, Jessica (Anthony) Harper, Zachary Benedum and Sarah Benedum; Nieces: Sydney Forristal, Gracie Benedum; Nephews: Dale, Josh and Jeremy Harper. Preceded in death by: his parents Rodger and Janet Benedum .

RUTH GERALDINE GOODRICH

RUTH GERALDINE GOODRICH (nee Davidson) died at home in Euclid on August 14, 2016. She was 88 years old. Born in Columbus she grew up on the Hilltop and attended Highland Ave. Elementary and West High School. She worked at Defense Construction Supply Center in Procurement. After retirement in 1971, she devoted her time to her grandchildren. Ruth loved to walk and run in parks, attend exercise/aerobic and tap classes, travel with family, and work on many craft projects. She was preceded in death by her parents Vellie and Lillian Davidson; sisters Dorothy Brown and Jane Terry; ex-husband J. R. Goodrich. She is survived by siblings Delores Prillerman and Lawrence Davidson; daughters Linda (John) Roberts, Denise (Walt) Neil, and Kathy Daniels; 5 grandchildren: Achebe (Lemar) Thomas, Gregory, Michelle and Michael Daniels, and Dante Giray. Her 7 great-grandchildren include Achebe (Chelua) Thomas, Harrison Waters, Aaliyah Jones, Antoine, Alicia, Anthony, and Antonio Patterson.
Celebration of Life will be held in Columbus at the Park Towers party room, 1620 E. Broad St. on Saturday, August 20th from 10am -12pm.
Friends will also be received at the Shore Cultural Centre at 291 E. 222rd Street in Euclid, Ohio Monday, August 22nd from 6:30 - 8:30pm.

Gary L. Gochneaur of Painesville passed away on August 13. Beloved husband of Denise (nee Sarisky); brother of Glenn , Doris J. Rogal (Tom); brother in law of Joanne Turek, Francine Carraher (Earl); uncle of many nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his parents: Leland and Cleo; Sister Judy Hehr and brother in law Frank Turek. Gary was a former member of the Western Reserve Yacht Club. He enjoyed his corvette and spending time doing what he loved, boating and fishing.

Carol E. Lee age 77 passed away August 1 at her home in Newbury. She is survived by her loving husband Glen Ramsey for over 40 years and three sons, Edward Lemmers of Shaker Heights, Louis Lemmers ( Byrd) of St. Bernard, Ohio and Shep Singer of Newbury; 5 grandchildren, Soliehe Girmai, Nahan Lemmers, Mathew Lemmers, Adelene Watts and Sam Watts. Carol volunteered with CASA for kids, Women Safe of Geauga County, and U.H. Geauga Hospital. She was an Astrology teacher. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.

Jeffrey Alan Messner age 45 passed away suddenly on June 9, 2016. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Dr. John and Ann Hedgepeth, and Bill and Blanche Messner. Jeff was an avid reader. He enjoyed music and all sports. He was a gifted artist, and was degreed in CAD/CAM. In 2000 Jeff gave the gift of life to his beloved sister by donating one of his kidneys to her, allowing her to live a healthy, productive life without the need of dialysis. Leo P. Nelson "Papa Leo", age 69, of Painesville passed away peacefully at Homestead II Sunday, June 5, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born May 16, 1947 in Brainerd, MN, the first son of the late Hilding "Bill" and Rita Nelson. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1965 and joined the Marine Corps on February 16, 1966 remaining state side in bulk fuels until he was Honorably Discharged on February 15, 1968. Leo then worked his way into the Cleveland area settling in Painesville and worked at Trio Prescioneering as a machinist for 37 years before retiring in 2012. Papa enjoyed his family farm, his grandchildren, gardening, cooking, shooting pool, wood working, fishing, horse pulls, auctions, and being with his family. He is greatly missed by Joyce, his wife of 23 years; children, Michael (Rachele) Burkett, Matthew (Arlene) Burkett, and Melissa (Dean) West; 8 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren; siblings, Iris (Steve) Shively, William (Sue) Nelson, Ed (Gayle) Nelson, Rosanne (Bruce) Caughey, Ron (Barb) Nelson, Gloria (Rick Williams) Nelson; many nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Hilding "Bill" and Rita Nelson and brother, Duane (Mary) Nelson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 25, 2016 from 2pm until 4pm @ Mr. Lee's 3564 S. Ridge Road Perry, Oh. 44081. Papa's journey home to Minnesota will be completed in July, 2016.

Ora (Unzicker) Muzik was born June 28, 1919 in Niles P.O., Oklahoma to Lillie and Nicholas Unzicker. She was the third of five daughters with one younger brother. She lived in Arkansas, New York City, New Jersey, and Perry, Ohio where she met her husband in 1942. She married John Muzik Jr. on June 16, 1946 and lived in Painesville Township ever since. They had two sons, Michael William (Deborah Johnson) and Edward Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Michael, her sisters: Bertha, Irene, Mamie, Margaret, and her brother Willie. She was an active member in her church and garden club, with a particular talent with roses.
Memorial services will be held June 26, 2016 at the Madison Seventh Day Adventist Church on the corner of Bates Rd. and South Ridge Rd. (RT 84) at 2:00 p.m.

George B. Maxon, 88, of Concord Township passed away on May 29, 2016. He was born on November 3, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio. George was a retired auto body teacher for the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools. George was also a volunteer firefighter with the Concord Township Fire Department, and a charter member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Painesville Township. George proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Blackfin (SS-322). George enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Helen (Laukkonen) Maxon, parents Etta May and Burwell Maxon, sister Mary Shimp, and brother-in-law Harold Shimp. George is survived by his children Barbara Bretzman, Kathy Maxon, Bill (Ruth) Maxon, and Becky (Philip) Pesosky; grandchildren Brian Meyer, George Hudson, Mary Bretzman, Madeline and William Maxon, Kristen (Daniel) Barbera, and Andrew Pesosky, and three great-grandchildren.
