Leslie Sutton

Leslie Sutton, 52, of Mentor Ohio, passed away on May 1st, 2021, with her daughters by her side.

Devoted mother of Emily Shea (Allen), and Sarah Sutton. Loving daughter of Charlotte Lowe. Cherished sister of Evan Lowe (Bev), Jeremy Lowe,(Kristi), Natalie Shiff, Stephanie Lowe, and Kerie Mecaskey (Doug). Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Leslie worked as a delivery driver for the Plain Dealer for most of her teenage, and adult life. She was running a dog boarding and walking business from her home, which she loved so much. There was nothing that made her happier than having a house full of dogs. She enjoyed traveling when she could, and one of her favorite vacation things to do was parasailing. She would go every time she went on a warm weather water vacation. She was a kind, caring, loving woman, who would do anything for anyone at all, even opening her home to her friends that needed her. She was a mother, daughter, aunt, and a friend to so many.

There will be a small, private memorial for the family, and once the weather warms up, there will be a celebration of life at an out door venue, which will be posted to her Facebook once planned.

Robert L. Mowery

Robert L. Mowery of Painesville. Passed away on Sunday April 25, 2021.

Beloved husband of Roxanne (nee Covell). Loving step-father of Thomas C. Claypool of Columbus, and Timothy A. Claypool (wife Stephanie), of North Kingsville.

Cherished grandfather of Ashley Claypool, Kayla Tobias, Alex Claypool, Sydney Claypool, Gracie Claypool, and Timmy Claypool.

Great-grandfather of Nicholas, Calum, and Kace. Robert was preceded in death by his father Lee A. Mowery, and his mother Alice Berzinskas Switzer.

Loving brother of Ronald Mowery, Richard Mowery, Shirley Mowery McDonald, and Brian Switzer.

Dolores Sherry , 87, Sandusky Ohio formerly of Avon Lake and Cleveland, passed away peacefully in Stein Hospice and Parkvue Healthcare Center April 25,2021.

Proceeded in death by sisters Alice Jane Auer (Joe), Helen Marie Peshek (Jack), Joyce Ann Goodrich (Pete), and special nephew David Peshek.

Survived by nieces and nephews, Tom Peshek (Carolyn), Sherry Kepic (Jim), Clifford Peshek (Stephanie), Kevin Peshek (Tracy), Jennifer Hirshman (Kevin), Sandy Cooper (Bob), Jackie Goodrich (Barb Blankenship), Brian Goodrich (Gayle), Carrie Waclawski (Michael), Suzanne Silbert,long time friend Karen Wester, many great nieces & nephews, cousins and special friends.

Born in Cleveland Ohio, she worked at Dominion East Ohio Gas and Tri C College as a dispatcher for security for many years. Dolores was a world traveler, avid collector and was loved by everyone she met.

Heather Lynn Ramian

Heather Lynn Ramian, age 48, passed away surrounded by her family on April 23, 2021. She fought a short valiant battle against a rare lung cancer. She will be greatly missed, but her pain is gone.

Heather is survived by her long time loving partner; William H. Prall, Jr., son; Nicholas Tizzano, step-son; Adam Tizzano, father; Ronald Ramian (Lisa), dear sisters; Stacy (Ramian) Burgett, Nicole Ramian, Jennifer Ramian, and Becky (Ramian) Weber. Uncles; William Votruba (Marla), Thomas Votruba and Aunts; Francine Juratovac (William), Donna (Ramian) Dougherty (Michael).  Niece; Skye Lyric Burgett, and nephews; Case Burgett and Cash (CJ) Jackson Stratt and many cousins here and in Texas.

Her mother, Nancy J. Blake, passed away February 2013. Uncle; James Votruba  deceased August 2000.

Arrangements are being handled by Blessing Cremation Center, Mentor, OH. There will be no calling hours and A Celebration of Life will be private with the family at a later date.

Erika Zigman

Erika Zigman A devoted wife and mother, Erika’s pride and love for her family didn’t come to an end with her death. Erika passed away at home on April 20, 2021 at the age of 80, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by fully living their lives.

Erika was born in Dresden, formerly East Germany-where she bravely fled communism and married Vladimir Zigman in 1959. They emigrated to the United States to build a successful and loving life together for 47 1/2 years, until she was widowed in 2006.

Erika was a long time resident of Willowick and Willoughby, befriending many neighbors as they admired her lifelong passion of flower gardening. She enjoyed watching the birds in her yard and feeding “Dilly” the deer. She leaves behind her faithful canine companion and “good dog” Rosie.

Known for always speaking her mind, Erika will be remembered by her of friends and family for her whirlwind personality and smile. Since becoming widowed, she had become very active in and had many friendships with members the German Cultural Group of the Mentor Senior Center.

Erika is survived by her children Sylvia Abramczyk ( Ron, deceased) of Willowick, Branko Zigman ( companion, Kim) of Willoughby, Erik Zigman ( Kristine) of Seattle, Washington, and Troy Zigman (Jamie) of Willoughby.

Erika was blessed and proud to be Oma to 8 grandchildren: Stephanie Anderson (George), Daniel Abramczyk (Katie), Erika Zigman (Brett), Rachel Zigman (Austin), Casey Zigman, Joseph Zigman, Blake Zigman and Tatum Zigman.

She is also survived by her very dear sister-in-law Barica Zigman (Ivan, deceased) of Eastlake and Josepha Lelak (Mirko, deceased) of Zagreb, Croatia, her nephews: Mirko Lelak, Vladimir Zigman , Bozidar Zigman, John Zigman and nieces Suzana Zigman Thomas and Karin Heift of Germany.

Her sister Giesela and brother-in-law Dieter Pimperl of Germany and brother and sister-in-law Drago and Danica Zigman are deceased .

A private Memorial Service will be held at All Souls Cemetery on Saturday, June 19, 2021. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of The Hospice of The Western Reserve , Lakeshore East Care Team, for their caring and support for Erika and her family. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests contributions be made to The Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th Street, Cleveland Ohio 44119-1930.

Naomi D. Spiro

Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Naomi D. Spiro (91) died on April 20, 2010 at Lake West Hospital. She was born in New York City and moved to Willoughby in 1962 when her husband, Frank, changed jobs. Mrs. Spiro worked as an executive secretary for more than 40 years, retiring after 20 years with Continental Lighting Services in Eastlake. As a member of The League of Women Voters, she was very active in the founding of Lakeland Community College. She was a Lake Hospital System front desk volunteer for more than 28 years. After retirement, she continued to serve the community as a volunteer in the nursing office at Lake West Hospital, and as a receptionist at the front desk. She also knitted hundreds of baby caps for hospital newborns and sewed and stuffed heart pillows for the Mended Hearts at Lake West Hospital, sewed wheelchair chart bags and continued at the front desk, totaling more than 30,000 hours of service. She also volunteered at Edison Elementary School in the Reading Lab tutoring first and second graders. Mrs. Spiro also gave many hours to the Browning Senior Center knitting many lap robes for nursing home patients and donated more than 12 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. Mrs. Spiro was honored with several community recognition awards, including the Salt of the Earth award presented to her by the Willoughby Kiwanis organization. She loved the English language and was a prolific reader and was also a member of R.S.V.P. and Friends of the Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library. Mrs. Spiro was a crafter, enjoying quilting, knitting, sewing, and needlepoint. Surviving are her daughter, Janet Kiikka (Niel), of Zanesville, and son, Clifford (Linda Artley) of Savannah, Georgia, two grandchildren, Ian (Molly) and Miranda (Emannuel Tomas) and two great grandchildren, Oscar and Pearl.Her husband, Frank, passed away in 1996. Her parents and two sisters and a brother are also deceased. Blessings Crematory is handling all arrangements. No calling hours. Contributions are suggest to Ohio Special Olympics or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

Lawrence "Larry" Thomas Martis

Lawrence (Larry) Thomas Martis, 69, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2021 in the presence of his wife and three daughters after the final prayers of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Glorious Mysteries of the Holy Rosary.  

The beloved spouse of Bridgett and cherished father of their daughters Sydney, Kendall, and Ashton. The loving father of sons Brian and Marc (Amy); grandfather to Jordan and Luke (Brian), and Anthony, Lucy, and Joseph (Marc and Amy); and brother to John (Cosimine), Tim (Shirley), Ken, and Leo (Patricia) Martis. He was preceded in death by Leo (father), and Frances (mother).

Larry loved spending time with his family, cooking a new recipe, planting a garden, and taking care of his car. Many days and evenings were spent sitting on the front porch with his family enjoying the sun and fresh air or biking and hanging out with friends. Larry was also a very faith-filled man. He regularly prayed the Holy Rosary, attended daily mass and was a morning lector at St. Francis of Assisi for many years. Larry exuberated joy and never complained. He was always seen with a contagious smile on his face and a positive presence that brightened up every room. He had a dry sense of humor and had a laugh that made you smile. Larry also enjoyed the simple things; like reading the morning newspaper with a cup of black coffee, listening to Polka music on Saturday mornings, eating a celebratory donut after donating blood at the St. Gabriel blood drive, working out at the gym in the early morning at the Lake County YMCA, and enjoying a Masthead beer in the driveway while grilling or admiring his freshly cut lawn. His work ethic exceeded all standards and he made an effort to make a connection with everyone he came in contact with both personally and professionally.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Friday, April 23, 2021 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord, OH 44060. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm in the church. Burial in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon to follow. Masks are required and social distancing must be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages blood donations to the American Red Cross or financial donations to St. Mary's Seminary (28700 Euclid Avenue, Wickliffe, OH 44092).

Ronald C. Meister

Ronald C. “Papa” Meister, age 73, passed away April 5, 2021 at Tri-Point Medical Center in Concord Township. He was born July 18, 1947 in Cleveland to Richard and Martha (Summers) Meister.

Ronald was an extremely loving and caring person. He retired a US Army veteran. His family meant the world to him and he did everything he could for his kids and grandkids. He loved meeting new people and telling corny jokes. Christmas was always his favorite holiday and he whistled Christmas songs all year long.

He is survived by his sons, James (Nora) Meister and Ron Meister; brothers, Roger (Pat) Meister and Randy (Linda) Meister ; sisters, Marie Pinkston and Rosemary (Jim) Potter.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Martha Meister ; sister Margaret Ellis and brothers Richard Meister Jr. and Philip Meister.

The family has elected not to do a memorial service at this time but will be having a “celebration of life event” later in the year. Information will be forthcoming.

Christine Marie Klingman

Christine Marie Klingman, nee (Sivic), 76 of Willoughby, passed away April 5, 2021 peacefully at home. Dearly beloved of the late Frederick C Klingman, whom she missed deeply.

Cherished Mother of Michele Schmitt; loving Grandmother of Christopher G. (Tasha Marie) Thompson, Micheal J (Rebbecca) Kacprzynski, and Kyle Kacprzynski; Great grandmother of Katryna, Kaleana, and Kylie Thompson, Erin and Liam Kacprzynski. Christine also leaves behind her beloved 'Old English Sheepdog" Ginger and her cat Kitty.

Christine graduated from Wickliffe High School, she lived in Lake county most of her life. Christine was retired from the Willoughby Police Department where she was a dispatcher and later the court clerk. She was respected for her knowledge and everyone who knew her respected her tough exterior but all knew she was a kind and caring person. Her sense of humor and compassion will truly be missed.

A celebration of life will be held at the NORTH pavillon at Osborne Park in Willoughby this Saturday from 2-7. There will be food for everyone! Please come and share memories of Christine.

Joan J. Epperson

Joan J. Epperson age 91 of Virginia, resided in Mentor. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her son Stephen and his wife Marchelle on May 3, 2021. Devoted wife of the late Ralph. Cherished grandmother of 3, and great-grandmother of 3. Loving sister of Ralph.

Ronald Paul Singer

Ronald Paul Singer, 78, of Willowick, OH passed away April 1st 2021. 

Ron served as a Sgt. in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and spending time by the Chagrin River with family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his father Hyman, and mother Alvira (Poor). He is survived by his wife Nancy (Haske), children; Rhonda (daughter), Ronald (son) and his wife, Katie (Jonke). He is also survived by his siblings; Caroline Singer and Kathy Nicoulin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Josephine "Helen" Welch

Josephine “Helen” Welch (nee Madarena-Tenney) age 88, of Painesville. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 30, 2021. Loving daughter of the late Nicola and Janet She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd W. Welch, her son David A., and her daughter Cheryl A. Welch-Ford.

Devoted mother of Janet L. Welch-Butcher (Eugene A. Butcher, Jr.). Grandmother of five children, and great-grandmother of Aubrea and Chase.  Cherished sister of the late Arthur and James Madarena, Floyd A. David A., Kimberly Welch, Alison Welch (deceased), and Steven H. Ford Jr. 

Helen loved being with her family, and friends. Everyone loved to see her smile, and it would light up any room. She enjoyed crocheting, making, jewelry, and other family members that truly loved her, and her as well. Donation may be made in Helen’s name to Bella Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Joshua Bowman

Joshua Bowman age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Monday March 29th 2021. He was born June 27th 1984 in Gainesville Florida. He leaves behind his Mother Kelly (Vince) Linn, Father Bobby Bowman, Brother Matthew Bowman, Daughters Lexi and Hailey, Son Johnny, Step Brothers and Sisters Julia, Hannah, Emma, Kyle, and Jacob and many Relatives and Friends.

Josh was a Good-Hearted, Caring and Loving Son, Brother and Father who will truly be missed. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents John and Carol Kurkowski, Cousin Jamie Kurkowski, Aunt Tammy Frey, Great Grandmother Vernie Bowman and his best bud BJ. There will be a Celebration of his life held at a later date.

Carol Adams

July 4, 1951 - March 25, 2021

Ms. Carol Adams of Willoughby, Ohio passed away at the age of 69 on the morning of March 25th, 2021. She transitioned peacefully at David Simpson Hospice Center in Cleveland Ohio after a challenging journey with Pancreatic Cancer that began in 2019. 

She is survived by her three loving children: Nick, Brian, Kimberly, as well as Kimberly’s husband Greg, her two grandchildren Lyla and Renee, and her three brothers, Greg, David, and Lawrence and their spouses.

Carol was born in central Pennsylvania to Walter and Dorothy Adams. She attended The University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She went on to obtain a Master’s degree from Kent State University and enjoyed a multi-decade career as a Speech and Language Pathologist where she worked in various settings including schools and nursing homes. She spent the latter half of her career devoted to improving the lives of students with special needs at the Positive Education Program (PEP) Phoenix Day Treatment Center, located in the Greater Cleveland area. Her work brought her great joy and purpose through the calling of helping others.

In her free time, she found continued joy and peace throughout her life from spending time with her family, and through her spiritual following. She found solace in her beliefs of metaphysics and spirituality through practices like Reiki, Spirit Guide Readings, and her faith in angels. She enjoyed being outdoors surrounded by nature and water. Her final days were spent in a room with an incredible view looking out over Lake Erie, in the company of her loving children.

Carol’s children plan to host a gathering in the Cleveland area for anyone who wishes to celebrate her life around the 4th of July. 

Margaret Howell

Margaret “Marge”  (Rockocy) Howell, age 88 of Mentor died suddenly on March 21, 2021.  She was born August 20, 1932 in Brownsville, PA to George and Theresa Rockocy.

Marge was a Mentor resident for more than 60 years. She resided with her daughter Kathy and son-in-law, Patrick Leber, for the past 6 years where she enjoyed her favorite homemade soups and ethnic dishes.  Marge also loved splitting a beer (on ice) and watching her favorite nature, HGTV and Food Network shows.  

Marge is survived by her children, Michael (Kathy) Howell, Theresa (Neil) James, Patricia (Richard) Naumann, Kathleen (Patrick) Leber and Robert (Jennifer) Howell.  Devoted grandmother to Krista Epperson, Joe Schauer, Katie Schauer, Haley Leber, Jake Leber, Connor Howell and Megan Howell.  Great grandmother (Gigi) to Dylan Epperson, Shaubriana Pratt and Joey Schauer.

She is also survived by brothers Michael Rockocy of Willoughby and Steven Rockocy of Brownsville, PA and many nieces and nephews.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband Philip Howell, grandson Michael Howell and siblings John Rockocy, George Rockocy, Andrew Rockocy, Mary Drabicki, Anna Mae Green and sister-in-law, Theresa Rockocy.

A private service will be held for the family at All Souls Cemetery.

George R. Tompkins

George R. Tompkins of Mentor, passed away on March 14, 2021. Son of George D. and Colette Cook. Beloved partner of Karen Dhondt. Loving father of Jeremy Tompkins, Amber Ruland (Josh), Cory Althar deceased, widow Crystal Montgomery, and Jennifer L. Althar. Cherished grandfather of Tristan, Eric, Louis, Halleigh, Zarielle, Rowan, Shaianne, Chayton, Bree, Tyler, Lucas, Jamie, Erin, and Anthony, Great-grandfather of Chayton Jr., Declyn, and Brynlee. Brother of Mark A., George D., William, and Kim Tompkins, Richard, Eric, and Karen Cook.

Larry Nemeth

Larry Nemeth age 64, of Painesville. Passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2021. Beloved son of Frank and Margaret Nemeth (nee Szabo). Cherished father of Jason Nemeth (Jennifer). Loving grandfather of Jaylyn, Jessica, Julienne, Jensen, and Joseph Nemeth. Dear brother of Frank and Ron Nemeth. Cherished uncle, great uncle, and cousin to many beloved family members. Larry graduated from Riverside High School in 1975, and he drove truck for much of his life, and was an avid Cleveland sports fan. Patricia Miller

January 5, 1948 - February 27, 2021

Patricia Lynn Pritchard Miller, 73 of Mentor Headlands Ohio. Patricia was born on January 5, 1948 in Ranger WV and departed this life on Saturday February 27, 2021, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her three sons, William Pritchard, Eddie Schultz, and Scott Schultz; siblings, Earl McNeely, Tony McNeely, and Sherry Sweeney; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and all who loved her dearly. She always loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind as she held us in her heart. She will live in a special place in all our hearts forever. She will continue to light the world long after she has gone. Preceded in death by her parents, James Arthur Pritchard and Nora J Pritchard (McNeely); her loving daughter Denise Raunegger (Miller); brothers, Danny and David McNeely. 

There will be no services. Her Ashes will be blessed by pasture Zimmerman who baptized Patricia at her home.

Mary Ann Panko

Mary Ann Panko, age 76, of Mentor, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2021.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 2, 1944 to the late Walter and Mary Galinsky.

She enjoyed bowling, gardening, taking walks with her dog and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary Ann was a selfless, loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family.

She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Christine (David), sons Dennis (Renee), Brian (Christine), seven

grandchildren and brother Frank (Judy).Preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years Dennis

and her sister Florence.

Cremation by Blessings Cremation Center. Private burial will be held at Willoughby Cemetery.

Masako Dornbos

After an eventful life of 89 years, well-lived, and well-loved, Masako Dornbos passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on March 8th.

Masako was born in Osaka, Japan the eldest of seven children. She spent most of her childhood helping with her siblings as her mother was blind. Growing up during WW2 gave her an amazing appreciation for the "little things" in life.

In 1958 Masako was a hostess at a small town restaurant in Yamato, Japan. This is where she would meet the love of her life Paul, where he was completing his term in the Marine Corps. They were married in 1959 and three years later came to the United States, to raise their newborn daughter, Donna.

Masako was very proud to have become a U.S. Citizen in 1971.

Masako spent her life as a homemaker and a 54 year resident of Wickliffe, Ohio. Masako was devoted to caring for her home, animals, garden, and most importantly her family.

She had a love for shopping, purchasing beautifully ornate clothing, custom jewelry and unique things that had "meaning" to her. She and husband, Paul, spent many years traveling to rock quarries, the chagrin river and attending gem and mineral shows, looking for beautiful stones and fossils.

Masako was blessed with a very large family in Japan. She spent time throughout her life traveling back and forth to visit, introducing her family and meeting new family members, sightseeing, and eating all of her favorite foods!

Masako's greatest joy was spending time with her family and making memories. She was so proud of her three grandchildren and great grandson. Caring for each of them throughout their lives. Times well spent playing, cooking/eating, drinking hot tea, enjoying nature, frequenting local buffets, traveling, along with taking photos of each of those moments.

From her childhood in Osaka, Japan to her adult life in Wickliffe, Ohio, she always gave honest life advice, made everyone laugh and was kind to everyone fortunate to meet her. She was strong, determined and a fiercely independent woman. We will miss her so much, everyday.

Masako was preceded in death by her mother Harue Kawawaki, father Kamekichi Kawawaki. Three brothers Masakazu Kawawaki, Masao Kawawaki, Kazuo Kawawaki. Two sisters Asako Doi, Yasuko Nishitani.

Masako is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Paul Dornbos. Beloved daughter Donna Dornbos. Loving grandchildren Bryan Kralj, Katie Selerowski, Toran Trbovich. Special great grandson Jayden Villanueva. Sister of Toshiko Inoue. And a host of nieces, nephews and cousins in Japan.

The family expresses appreciation to the doctors, nurses and home health care team of UH Richmond Medical Center. A special thank you to the palliative and hospice staff at Traditions Health who provided invaluable care.

A private celebration of life will be held.
